HowBigVsMe is a small independent tool. It lines up big things, from blue whales to aircraft carriers, at true scale next to a person of your height, so the numbers turn into something you can picture.

How the models are made

Every model is built from simple shapes at the real length, width and height listed for it. They are not detailed replicas, and they are not made from anyone else’s 3D models. The point is the size, not the detail.

Where the sizes come from

Each lineup lists its sources: NOAA Fisheries and Smithsonian figures for animals, museum reconstructions for dinosaurs and megalodon, the White Star Line specifications for Titanic, and U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy fact sheets for vehicles, aircraft and ships. Where estimates disagree, the page gives the range and the model uses a value inside it.
